Job Description

Field Service Technician - FSR2 (Onsite) Full Time | Competitive Hourly Compensation | Frequent Travel Required Role Overview The Field Service Technician (FSR2) supports field operations by performing troubleshooting, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical systems and industrial controls at customer sites. This role handles more advanced service tasks with increased independence and is expected to deliver high‑quality technical support and strong customer service. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with power systems, electrical equipment, industrial controls, and diagnostic tools, along with the ability to work efficiently in the field with minimal supervision. Key ResponsibilitiesField Service Support Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems including transformers, circuit breakers, low‑ and medium‑voltage switchgear, PLC controls, and related equipment. Diagnose and resolve issues on‑site with minimal supervision, ensuring minimal downtime. Conduct inspections, testing, and verification to ensure systems meet operational and industry standards. Collaborate with senior technicians and engineering teams on complex service calls and escalate issues when needed. Customer Interaction & Support Serve as the primary customer contact during service visits, addressing technical concerns and providing clear solutions. Document service activities, including test results, troubleshooting steps, and system performance. Maintain strong communication and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Operational Efficiency Perform service work independently while prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines. Assist with scheduling and organizing service calls to ensure efficient service delivery. Coordinate with internal teams to secure parts, tools, and resources. Maintain accurate records of service work, inventory, time, and equipment usage. Utilize remote diagnostic tools and support technicians during remote troubleshooting. Health & Safety Compliance Follow all safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and industry regulations. Conduct site‑specific safety assessments and identify potential hazards. Participate in safety briefings and support junior technicians in maintaining safe work practices. Continuous Improvement Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and industry best practices. Identify opportunities to improve service processes and customer experience. Contribute to the development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). QualificationsEducation High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Certifications such as
NFPA 70E, OSHA
30, or similar credentials are a plus. Experience 3-5 years of hands‑on field service experience focused on power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls. Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical systems. Experience with field service management tools or software is beneficial. Hands‑on experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, and protective relay systems. Skills & Competencies Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities. Proficiency with electrical tools, test equipment (e.g., multimeters, relay test sets), and diagnostic software. Clear and effective communication skills. Strong time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple service calls. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Other Requirements Frequent travel, including overnight stays, to customer sites and regional service locations.
