Engine/Generator Service Technician

Job Description:

Performs activities associated with installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and residential generator equipment, industrial engines and related electronic components; investigates and resolves customer reports of technical problems; works as directed to eliminate future operational or service difficulties by performing preventative/scheduled maintenance, unscheduled maintenance, and necessary repairs.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

• Installs or supports the installation of new or modified equipment at customer's location to ensure full functionality according to specifications.
• Reviews performance reports and documentation and inspects malfunctioning or damaged equipment to determine nature and scope of problem and recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
• Coordinates problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs.
• Provides on-site technical services to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
• Participates in training on the technical particulars and safe operations of the equipment.

Competencies & Qualifications:

• Experience repairing either engines, generators, turbines, motors, gears, or water jets
• Understanding of electricity
• Willingness and ability to travel
• High school, technical school, or GED equivalent
• Valid driver's license

Preference:

• Professional experience and training on a leading brand of generators or engines (Kohler, Scania, Deutz, CAT, Cummins, Generac, Mitsubishi, Ford, MAN, MTU)
• Experience servicing water jets
