Technician repairs material handling equipment, transmission, or other subassemblies according to specifications, using hand tools and power tools. Technician will disassemble unit and examine condition, movement, or alignment of parts visually or using gauges. The technician will replace defective parts using hand tools, arbor press, flexible power press, and power tools as needed. Technician will then reassemble unit and test operation. $24.00 - $35.00 / hour depending on experience Company provided vehicle, phone, and tablet Technician Responsibilities Include:
Reporting to work on scheduled time every day and check in with dispatcher for daily work assignments. Driving to & from customer location in company provided service vehicle that has needed tools & part stock inventory. Perform routine scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment (oil changes, filter changes, pressure checks, etc.) Disassemble engine and repairs/replaces defective parts such as carburetor and generator as needed. Cylinders, and rings as needed using hand and power tools. Hammers out dents & bends in frame, welds tears & breaks, reassembles frame. Repairs/replaces other defective parts, such as horn, headlight, controls, gas & oil tanks, starter, and muffler assemblies. Repairs/replaces and adjusts subassemblies such as forks, transmission, brakes, and drive chain according to specifications Listens to engine, examines vehicle frame and advises customer on condition and needed further repairs. Connects test panel to engine and checks generator output, ignition timing, and other engine performance indicators. Use electrical test equipment to test electric forklifts Each Technician will report to the Service Manager, with any problems or concerns regarding safety issues, customer problems, etc. Technician responsible to track their time each day per repair, making sure appropriate customer is invoiced correctly Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent Ability to safely and effectively drive a company vehicle 6 Months of Mechanic Experience or Completed Certificate of Automotive or Diesel Service / Repair Basic knowledge of engine repair and diagnostics Basic knowledge of Electrical Troubleshooting and Diagnostics ASE -Automotive Service Excellence Certificate a plus but not required. Requires strong instruction communication skills, both in giving and receiving. Ability to effectively demonstrate how to diagnose and troubleshoot specific technical problems.
