Job Description

The Environmental Field Service Technician performs physical labor and utilizes tools and equipment necessary to provide services related to site remediation; lab packing; tank cleaning/removal; and the transportation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Duties and Responsibilities of an Environmental Field Service Technician Perform work under the direct guidance of a Supervisor or Foreman involving the remediation of cleanup regarding hazardous waste and materials. Participate in any technical and safety training provided by Elk and abide by the guidelines presented. Confined-space entry and 40-hour OSHA classes as required. Daily work will involve confined space entry such as manholes, tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination, sweeping and shoveling, high pressure washing and various other remedial activities. Uncover, open, clean, and/or remove underground and above-ground storage tanks. Pack hazardous and non-hazardous waste into drums or pails, move drums to central area, load drums onto truck for transportation and disposal. Collect samples of soil and other materials for analysis. Utilize all hand tools, pumps, saws, compressors, and other equipment in a safe and effective manner; maintain all equipment in good condition; clean and store as instructed; alert supervisor to any problems with equipment or shortage of supplies. Document all activities accurately and turn in paperwork in a timely manner. Interact with customers and co-workers in a professional and respectful manner. Respond to Emergency Response calls. Inspect field trucks, equipment, and roll offs; unload deliveries Schedule with transportation for vehicle needs Preforms other, related tasks as assigned Out of town travel paid per diem Pay incentive for call out Qualifications for an Environmental Field Service Technician Basic knowledge of environmental operations and safety issues Familiarity with the use and care of hand tools and motorized equipment
OSHA HAWOPER
Technician Level Training with Confined Space Entry Training (or willingness to attend such training if not already certified, paid training) Willingness to accept on-call duties on a rotating basis; ability to work overtime when necessary, including occasional travel and overnight stays Respond to Emergency Response calls Must be 18 Years old High School Diploma or GED Valid driver's License required and clean MVR Physical Requirements and Work Environment for an Environmental Field Service Technician Manual labor; continuously standing and walking. Frequently pushing, carrying, lifting above shoulders and move up to 75 lbs., climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, and twisting. Constantly working outdoors and in all elements of weather.
