Job Title:
Field Service Technician Job Description We are seeking a hands-on Installation & Service Technician to install, commission, and service optical inspection systems at customer facilities. This role is based in Minnesota but requires up to 75% travel, mostly domestic with occasional international trips. Responsibilities Install and commission optical inspection systems on customer production lines. Align, calibrate, and optimize system performance. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and vision-based components. Support system integration including cameras, lighting, sensors, and industrial networks. Train customer operators and maintenance teams. Perform preventive maintenance and respond to service calls. Complete detailed installation and service reports, including system documentation. Collaborate with engineering and technical support teams. Essential Skills Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, mechatronics, or a related field OR equivalent experience. 2+ years of experience in field service, installation, or industrial maintenance. Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, or automation systems. Ability to read schematics and technical drawings. Comfortable using computers and diagnostic tools. Strong communication and customer service skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in manufacturing, flat glass, or industrial automation. Familiarity with machine vision systems or optical inspection. Experience with PLCs or industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP or Profinet. Previous experience in a field service or customer-facing technical role. Work Environment Candidates must be based in Minnesota or willing to relocate. The position involves up to 75% travel, including overnight stays and occasional international trips. A valid driver's license and passport or the ability to obtain one are required. The role demands physical capability to lift up to 60 lbs. and work in industrial environments. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Burnsville, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $72000.00 - $95000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
