Job Description

Job Summary:
The Field Service Technician is responsible for repair, test, adjust, calibrate, or install electronic components, such as industrial controls, on specialized fabrication equipment located at customer facilities in the United States.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, Troubleshoot, and make necessary repairs and/or perform routine maintenance and calibration on all types of equipment and products including, but not limited to: o Manual and Automated Pipe/Plate Fabrication Equipment. o CNC Plasma Profiling Systems.
  • Ability to represent the company to our customers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Completes all service orders in a neat and timely fashion and obtains a customer's signature on the order prior to leaving facility.
  • Maintains company provided diagnostic equipment, tools, and other equipment in clean, good working conditions and within manufacturer's recommendation.
  • Communicate with Service Manager on job status, daily activities, and unsafe conditions of equipment.
  • Communicates by phone and in person with vendors, customers, sales staff, store managers and others, providing information on repair times, ordering of parts and supplies, etc.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM's) on customer equipment per company procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality with customers.
  • Follows safety procedures and attends monthly Company meetings.
  • Follows travel guidelines as described in the travel manual.
  • Perform duties as deemed necessary by Management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must have general mechanical skills.
  • Ability to plan a logical approach to troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
  • Must be familiar with the concept of continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to speak in a clear, understandable manner and write legibly.
  • Must be able to distinguish between different colors on electrical schematics drawings.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to meet customer needs and management expectations.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision, given proper instructions.
  • Must be able to wear protective equipment as needed.
  • Must be able to use trade type tools or hand tools.
  • Must maintain a clean MVR and TDL.
  • Ability to read and comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Ability to read and comprehend electrical schematics.
Ability to work in windows-based computer systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Be able to rebuild, repair and maintain automated fabrication equipment . Be able to reassemble machines, using hand tools and measuring instruments to test machines before they go to customers Apply your knowledge of mechanical and industrial technology to inspect machines and observe operation to detect malfunctions. Be able to disassemble machines using hand tools, select replacement parts, solder loose connections, and rewire electrical circuits.

Comprehensive in-house and on-site training provided on how to repair the equipment.
Additional Must Requirements:
Knowledge of mechanics and electricity is required, and a preference will be given to those with an understanding of welding processes. Frequent travel will be required. Must be able to provide exceptional customer service. Some overtime may be required.
