Senior Field Operations Planner
SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTIONS
The Senior Field Operations Planner is responsible for operational planning, route optimization, field service coordination, logistics management, real-time decision making, problem solving, data analysis, and multi-tasking in a demanding customer environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Daily Technician Routing — Build and optimize daily routes for 30+ field technicians using routing software, GIS tools, and operational data. Parts & Materials Coordination — Ensure all required parts are available at the correct location before dispatch; coordinate with warehouse teams, couriers, and vendors. Work Order Prioritization — Assign jobs based on SLA deadlines, technician skill level, customer availability, and geographic efficiency. Home‑Base Optimization — Minimize technician drive time by factoring in home location, regional coverage zones, and shift start/end points. Real‑Time Adjustments — Re-route technicians during the day as emergencies arise, jobs run long, or parts availability changes. Communication & Coordination — Serve as the central point of contact between dispatch, field technicians, customer service, and warehouse operations. Data & Reporting — Track KPIs such as on‑time arrival, travel time, job completion rates, and route efficiency; recommend improvements. System Management — Maintain and update routing, scheduling, and field‑service management platforms. KEY COMPETENCIES
Knowledge, Proficiency of Acquired Skills, Aptitude, Capability The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation, logistics, planning, or field service scheduling. Logistics Planning experience (1-3+ years preferred) Strong understanding of routing optimization , travel‑time modeling, and geographic planning Experience with field‑service or dispatching tools (e.g., Salesforce FSM, Oracle Field Service, ClickSoftware) Ability to interpret inventory, parts availability, and warehouse workflows Excellent communication skills for coordinating with technicians and internal teams Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, mapping tools, or routing software Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and make real‑time decisions REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience, Education, Certifications, Skills Experience with GIS or route optimization platforms is preferred along with familiarity with SLZ-driven service environments Experience with Salesforce CRM platform Experience in HVAC, telecom, utilities, industrial equipment, or other field‑service industries Familiarity with Lean , Six Sigma , or continuous‑improvement methodologies Knowledge of fleet management or DOT compliance (if applicable) Success Indicators Reduced technician drive time and fuel costs Higher first‑time‑fix rate due to correct parts coordination Improved SLA compliance and customer satisfaction Fewer same‑day route changes due to better planning Increased technician productivity and job completion rates PHYSICAL DEMANDS - WORK ENVIRONMENT
