Role:
AD Susman is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technical Field Advisor (TFA) to provide on-site technical direction for customer-owned gas turbine, steam turbine, and generator mechanical assembly and disassembly processes. This is a senior-level field service leadership role for a highly skilled professional with extensive hands-on experience in rotating equipment.
What You'll Do:
Provide technical direction based on site and engineering requirements. Give technical and production direction to company field personnel and/or on-site labor contractors. Communicate with company engineering teams. Review and manage engineering documents and prints. Serve as the liaison between the project manager and the customer. Assist with outage planning and outage schedule execution. Manage mechanical tooling and parts schedules. Coordinate on-site logistics. Coordinate safety and environmental compliance for labor and equipment with the Job Superintendent, Supervisors, and site personnel. Support LTSA and non-LTSA/transactional projects. Manage, coordinate, and perform gas turbine, steam turbine, and generator site activities. Manage emergency outages and planning with the project manager and customers. Provide technical instruction to field labor and customers on-site. Enforce company safety policies and OSHA compliance for on-site personnel and subcontractors. Write and direct technical reports with the company coordinator and deliver to the customer on time. Manage administrative activities including Microsoft Office, Job Safety Analysis, labor and contractor timesheets, technical reporting, required technical data sheets, labor expenses, ordering material consumables, and shipping activities for parts during projects. Manage third-party vendors for machining, expansion joints, or additional welding needed for project success. Prepare outage daily reports and mechanical daily work lists. Ensure contractors or labor are using correct and efficient mechanical steps and processes. Perform LOTO and job walkdowns for safety and estimating purposes. Adhere to and comply with the QHSE management system. Maintain a safe working environment and encourage others to do the same. Streamline and constantly evaluate job duties to improve productivity by implementing systems and/or tools. Perform job duties and work ethic in a professional manner consistent with industry-renowned experts. Complete required technical training for turbine and generator frames utilized in the field environment. Manage and lead turbine alignment, technical clearances, specific torques, and ensure proper rigging techniques required for turbine maintenance. Travel domestically to U.S. locations as required. Looking For:
High school diploma or GED. 5 years minimum in Field Service Management. 10 years minimum of hands-on experience in rotating equipment and field services. Strong technical mechanical leadership and understanding of power drive train equipment. Strong understanding of gas turbine, steam turbine, and generator mechanical operations. Strong understanding of technical drawings and work procedures. Strong leadership skills over field service labor. Ability to communicate with engineering services, third-party contractors, and the end-user customer.
