  • Full-time Express Employment Professionals is hiring an Electrical / Mechanical Field Service Technician for a local company that installs, services, and repairs automatic gate systems throughout Northern Utah, Idaho, and surrounding areas.
This is a great fit for someone who has experience with garage doors, low-voltage wiring, access control, electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, HVAC, construction, or field service work . You do not need to have gate operator experience on day one. For the first 60 days, you will train locally with an experienced technician and learn the company's gate operating systems, access control equipment, troubleshooting process, and service standards. After training, you will begin working in the field locally. As you gain confidence, you will eventually service gates at high-end homes, ranches, commercial properties, and secure job sites , where professionalism, trust, and customer communication matter. What You'll Do Train locally on gate operator systems, controls, wiring, and service procedures Diagnose and repair automatic gate systems Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and low-voltage issues Work with motors, sensors, access controls, keypads, remotes, and gate hardware Use hand tools and power tools to complete repairs and service work Support gate installations and coordinate with fencing crews when needed Communicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, and business contacts Complete service calls and document the work performed Travel to job sites locally at first, with some overnight/road travel later as needed Who We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is electrically and mechanically inclined, professional, and comfortable working around customers.
The right person will be:
Comfortable troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues Experienced with tools, service work, or installation work Able to work independently after training Professional in appearance and communication Confident speaking with homeowners and customers Dependable, trustworthy, and coachable Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions Willing to travel occasionally once fully trained This role requires someone who can look the part, communicate professionally, and represent the company well when working at high-end homes, ranches, and secure locations. This could be a strong fit if you have experience in: Garage door service or installation Electrical or low-voltage work Access control systems HVAC service Maintenance technician work Construction service work Fence or gate installation Equipment repair Field service technician roles Mechanical troubleshooting Garage door experience is especially helpful because the work involves similar field service skills, moving parts, motors, wiring, customer communication, and on-site troubleshooting.
Requirements:
Clean background required due to high-security job sites Electrical or mechanical aptitude Experience using hand and power tools Basic wiring knowledge preferred Ability to lift 10-50lbs Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and kneeling throughout the day Comfortable working outdoors Professional appearance and customer-facing communication skills Must be comfortable with occasional overnight travel after training High school diploma or equivalent
