$26.00 - $30.00 per hour About the Opportunity Recruiting Heroes is seeking an experienced, hands-on Field Service Technician for a growing company supporting the mission-critical infrastructure and data center industry in Northern Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a mechanical, technical, maintenance, field service, fuel systems, diesel, electrical, or equipment repair background who enjoys problem-solving, working with tools, supporting customers in the field, and being part of a high-performance team. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently in the field, and able to deliver quality service in mission-critical environments. Position Summary The Field Service Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and upgrading diesel fuel filtration equipment and related fuel systems. This role includes both shop-based and field-based work, including preventive maintenance, fuel system repairs, fuel sampling, customer communication, and documentation. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read and follow technical drawings, comfort using hand tools, power tools, and multimeters, and the ability to maintain a clean, organized, and well-inventoried work environment. Key Responsibilities Perform maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and upgrades on diesel fuel filtration equipment and related systems. Conduct preventive maintenance and field service work at customer sites. Inspect components, change fuel filters, check fuel system performance, and identify repair needs. Execute diesel fuel sampling from above-ground and underground tanks while following all safety requirements. Read, interpret, and follow engineering drawings, mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials. Assemble mechanical parts and test, calibrate, and verify parts and mechanisms. Operate hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and field service equipment. Complete quality checks to ensure work is accurate, complete, and aligned with required standards. Identify, document, and report field service issues using appropriate checklists and service documentation. Maintain a clean, organized company vehicle, tool inventory, and work environment. Communicate professionally with customers during on-site visits. Provide clear technical guidance, timely updates, and strong customer service in the field. Follow all safety protocols related to field service work, fuel deliveries, equipment use, and customer site requirements. Work in diverse environments, including manufacturing, field service, and mission-critical facility settings. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical school, trade school, or associate degree preferred. 2 to 5 years of experience as a field technician, service technician, maintenance technician, mechanic, diesel technician, equipment technician, or similar role. Clean driving record required. Experience using hand tools, power tools, and multimeters. Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials. Strong troubleshooting, mechanical, and technical problem-solving skills. Ability to regularly lift 30 to 50 pounds. Physical ability to operate field service equipment. Comfortable working in different environments and conditions. Comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces when required. Well-organized and able to manage multiple tasks, service calls, or projects at the same time. Team-focused, dependable, safety-minded, and goal-oriented. Comfortable performing repetitive tasks with accuracy and consistency.
