Job Description

Field Service Tech Lead (West Region) Prolec-GE Waukesha, Inc Up to 62 (USD) Hourly company vehicle United States, Wisconsin, Waukesha 400 South Prairie Avenue (Show on map) May 20, 2026 JOB SUMMARY The Field Service Technician Lead will be expected to travel throughout the USA. This role must have basic/advance/expert understanding of the technical competencies listed below in order to support and execute Field Service projects.
Field Service projects may include:
installations, repair, and maintenance of electrical components/power transformers. This role will provide on-site project support/execution and planning to Field Service crews. This role needs to be proficient in technical competencies: Transformer Assembly, Electrical Testing, Controls, LTC's and Oil Processing.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be able to drive company vehicle/equipment. Receive assignments and instructions from manager - both oral and written. Read, understand, and follow guidelines set forth Company procedures, and blueprints when performing assigned work. Lead other Field Service team members. o Holding team accountable to project schedule execution o Ability to deliver key messages & communicate effectively Troubleshoot and resolve technical complex issues. Basic/Advanced/Expert knowledge/troubleshooting experience of electrical testing/theory. Basic/Advanced/Expert knowledge/troubleshooting experience of controls Basic/Advanced/Expert knowledge/troubleshooting experience of oil processing Understand and interpret blueprints. Compose Field Reports (Daily Activity reports, etc.) and any other job site, customer specific reports to management/customer in a timely manner. Manage equipment maintenance on each job site. Manage job site safety. Conduct pre-job/post-job walks. Assist Service Work Planner with following on-site project management: budget, scope of work, schedule, manpower, task prioritization and multi-tasking.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Mechanically inclined and have basic knowledge of hand tools Understanding of transformer/industry specifications to be able to troubleshoot/analyze data. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. Basic understanding of operating heavy machinery/equipment. Self-directed, positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions/directions. Advanced computer skills. Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Basic project management skills Able to influence/manage without authority Good interpersonal skills Basic understanding of financial concepts Customer focus driven Plan and drive execution to plan
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education / Experience High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Advanced post-high school level education in lieu of 3 years of industry specific work experience Utility experience Report writing experience. Supervisory experience. Valid Driver's License
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Key Working Relationships Works with other departments (Customers, Components, Sales/Marketing, transformer plants-Goldsboro, Waukesha) Communicates with customers and managers who may have inquiries about aspects of the job which entails the exchange of accurate information and quick decisions in these situations. Physical Demands Estimated hours for this position is 60 hours a week Ability to remain in a standing position 90% of the time. Ability to travel 95% of the time to different job sites throughout the region. Travel by vehicle and plane. Ability to operate heavy machinery, climb, and work at heights Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 lbs.
