Job Description
Copper Mountain Irrigation (CMI), a locally owned and family-operated company serving Northwest and Central Wyoming since 2013, is seeking an Irrigation Field Service Technician to join our team based out of Riverton, Wyoming. This position will report directly to the CEO and Project Manager/Lead Service Technician to support all aspects of providing the best irrigation systems installation, service and parts to farmers in the surrounding regions. This role requires experience in all aspects of installing and servicing pivot projects including excavating and preparing irrigation sites, measuring out, welding and fitting pipeline and electrical work, building and pouring concrete pads, maintaining and troubleshooting a variety of irrigation equipment and everything in between. When not in the field, this position is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized yard and shop space, completing daily work orders, assembling and tracking parts for pivot projects and service, and following established processes to support the efficiency of the Project Management and Service team. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, safety and quality minded, takes accountability for their work with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and an understanding of the agricultural community's needs. The position provides the training and development from our team of experienced Field Service techs to have a great career in the irrigation industry. This is a full-time, 40-50+ hours/week average, Monday through Friday position with some Saturdays and overtime during the irrigation season. The successful candidate will install and service pivots within a 2-3 hours plus drive radius of Riverton and possibly the Worland location when needed. The Project Field Service Technician is accountable for the following
Roles & Responsibilities:
Assisting and/or performing all tasks related to irrigation system installations, including site preparation, measuring, welding, fitting pipeline, electrical work, and building/pouring concrete pads Assisting and/or performing pivot system service and repairs, including troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, replacing components, and ensuring systems are operating efficiently Performing all tasks related to gathering, staging, and assembling project parts, including preparing project boxes, tracking inventory for jobs, and coordinating with the Project Manager and Parts Team Performing all tasks related to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized shop, yard, and service vehicle to support efficient project workflow and team readiness Assisting and/or performing daily work order completion, documenting service performed, and following established processes to support project accuracy, safety, and quality standards
Skills and Requirements :
2+ years' experience prepping construction worksites 2+ years' experience working with concrete, including forming and pouring pads 2+ years' experience operating construction site equipment including, but not limited to, skidsters, trackhoes, forklifts, and other excavation equipment 2+ years' experience measuring and fitting pipeline 2+ years' experience troubleshooting and maintaining equipment, pumps, and motors (hydraulics experience preferred) 1+ years' experience reading, interpreting, and following blueprints/instructions 1+ years' welding and fabrication experience (preferred — willingness to learn) 1+ years' electrical work experience (preferred — willingness to learn) 1+ years' experience completing work orders/sales orders accurately on a daily basis Experience with digital tools, tablets, or mobile apps for work orders, mapping, or manufacturer service platforms (preferred — willingness to learn) Safety-minded with knowledge of construction and excavation safety practices Comfortable working with farmers and others in hands-on, high-effort environments; able to build trust and communicate effectively across backgrounds Ability to collaborate with project managers, sales staff, and service technicians to complete projects on time and within scope Ability to manage work schedule independently to meet project deadlines Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills Ability and willingness to work 10-12 hrs/day, 3-5 days a week during busy season Ability to lift a minimum of 75-100 lbs Ability to work in all types of weather conditions Willingness to drive 2-3 hours one way to worksites on a regular basis and stay overnight to complete projects Willingness to take classes/work towards irrigation or trade-related certifications Valid driver's license and clean driving record (CDL preferred) Ability to pass a background check and drug test The Ideal Candidate will have the following characteristics: Can-do attitude; positive attitude; willing to go the extra mile Takes accountability for the quality and timeliness of all work performed Customer-centric Organized and detail oriented Reliable, dependable and trustworthy Appreciates feedback Always striving to learn something new to be the go-to person
Work Schedule & Requirements:
Monday through Friday - start times can vary between 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. with 8-10 hour shifts; Some Saturdays and overtime required during irrigation season
Compensation:
Hourly rate: $20.00 - $ 22.00/hr+ Depending on experience and demonstrated skill sets Benefits available for full-time employees.
