Job Description

Part-Time Bike Mechanic Rim Tours Mountain Bike Adventures Moab, UT Job Summary:
Rim Tours Mountain Bike Adventures, a mountain biking tour operator in Moab, UT, is seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Bike Mechanic and Handyperson to join our team. This position is responsible for ensuring our fleet of rental mountain bikes are maintained in excellent working condition for guided tours and rentals. In addition to working on bikes, our ideal candidate is a well-rounded handyperson, willing to take on other small repair projects; painting/repairing bike racks, small welding repairs, camp gear maintenance, and building maintenance. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills and a passion for mountain biking.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform maintenance, repairs, and tune-ups on a fleet of high-quality Santa Cruz full suspension mountain bikes and ebikes. Assemble new bike fleet annually to company specs Buff and box bikes for shipping at the end of season, and when bikes have sold. Daily Setup of bikes according to rider specifications, including suspension adjustments based on height and weight and changing pedals (flat or SPD) upon request. Coordinate with the office staff regarding bike assignments and ability to use computer software to check and make changes to rentals. Maintain an organized mechanics area, ensuring guides use designated areas and return dirty tour bikes there. Ensure bikes are properly maintained for safe transport when rented for self-guided rides. Manage and maintain ebike systems, batteries and charging Handle basic administrative tasks related to bike maintenance records.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Mechanical expertise in mountain bikes, including full suspension systems and ebikes. Ability to perform tune-ups, repairs, assembly, and disassembly. Knowledge of bike setup, including suspension and pedal types. Strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, including guides and the Day Tour Manager. Physical ability and strength, including lifting. Previous bike mechanic experience is preferred.
Work Hours:
This is a part-time position. Rim Tours is primarily a 3-season business (spring, summer, and fall), though mechanics work year-round to sell and build bikes. The position will fluctuate seasonally with potential furlough during the winter months (November- February). Specific hours may vary depending on the demands of the season.
