Glendale, AZ Job Details Full-time $18 - $26 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Computer operation Computer literacy Construction equipment servicing Engine repair Productivity software Full Job Description The Mechanic Assistant performs routine mechanical activities to provide required maintenance for vehicles and equipment. Assists in performing a variety of automotive, mechanical, and electrical activities to maintain operation of vehicles such as repair/installation of brakes, exhaust, and cooling/electrical systems. Helping in the diagnosis of problems or recurring malfunctions and choosing course of action. Assists in monitoring inventory levels of equipment, and tools. Performs daily inspections. Uses hand tools, such as hoists, drills, grinding wheels and motor analyzers. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. A mechanical assistant works under the direction of the Lead Mechanic and Logistics Manager. To perform this job successfully, the Mechanic helper assistant must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with minimum supervision. This job description may not be inclusive of all assigned duties, responsibilities, or aspects of the job described, and may be amended at any time at the sole discretion of the Employer. Equipment & Truck Repairs Receives work order from the Lead Mechanic and ensures work is completed according to company policies and procedures with optimal turnaround time. Completes work order inspection checklist for all performed work orders sent in a timely and accurate manner under the supervision of the mechanic. Must have extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operations and functions. Ability to quantify the scope of repairs and use cost-effective yet safe procedures and parts to perform the task under the supervision of the Lead Mechanic. Must be able to perform complex repairs of common construction equipment such as but not limited to backhoes, dump trucks, jumping jacks, …etc. under the supervision of the Lead Mechanic. Must be able to perform engine overhauls of heavy-duty equipment, machines, and trucks, if ever directed. Responsible for emergency work orders and possesses the ability to perform emergency repairs on-site, if ever directed. Equipment & Truck Maintenance Receives work order from the Lead Mechanic and ensures work is completed according to company policies and procedures with optimal turnaround time. Ability to perform basic vehicle and heavy equipment tune-ups and all other general preventative maintenance. Maintains organized storage of all maintenance records for all and any trucks, heavy-duty equipment and machines. Equipment Returned Washes, inspects, and greases all returned equipment as it arrives in the yard. Correctly label equipment that is deemed damaged and send reports in a timely and accurate manner to create work order and schedule repairs. Performs returned equipment inspections from job sites. Ability to perform all duties of the position effectively and efficiently and at the skill level commensurate with the assignment. Timecards Submits timecards accurately and on time. Billing and Expense Updates Vista with maintenance completed. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English and Spanish Ability to communicate effectively personally and via telephone/email Ability to prioritize and organize; work well under stress; be able to meet deadlines Ability to work flexible hours, fine to leave Ability to be flexible and adapt to constant change Ability to operate vehicles safely. Requires constant standing, stooping, kneeling and carrying, and lifting medium to heavy items. Willing to learn new things Have a positive attitude and be solution-oriented person High school diploma or equivalent and 4-6 years of experience Heavy Equipment experiences preferred. Will consider a combination of education and experience Must have a working knowledge of computer use, internet, Microsoft Office, and related software
