Full Job Description Description:
The position of Technician Level 1 consists of performing regular preventative maintenance, entry level diagnostics, and minor repairs on a wide range construction equipment and delivery vehicle fleet to ensure the equipment operates safely and properly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot/diagnose malfunctions and repair equipment Perform minor repairs on gas and diesel engines, complex hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains to include manual and power shift transmissions on equipment and trucks Inspect, service, and test equipment, ensuring performance to manufacturer specifications Perform routine service on equipment which includes checking fluid levels, changing fluid and lubricating Maintain all decals, safety warnings and company ID stickers. Prepare/maintain accurate records on the maintenance and repair of equipment Maintain accurate warranty records Complete accurate parts orders Notify Branch Manager or designee of damaged equipment or warranty situations prior to initiating repair Maintain company equipment - keep in clean, orderly condition Maintain work area and equipment Accurately manage inventory Maintain a safe working environment Attend technical classes to ensure compliance with standards May perform other duties as assigned
Experience:
Minimum 1 years' experience maintaining construction equipment or graduation from an accredited technical institute
Qualifications/Requirements:
Consistently adhere to safety policies, procedures, and guidelines Demonstrated basic maintenance understanding of: Diesel Engines Electrical Fundamentals (DC) Hydraulic Fundamentals Gas Engines Drivetrains Basic understanding of schematics Demonstrated ability to read and understand repair/service manuals and instructions Demonstrated ability to maintain a safe work environment Effective communication skills to include active listening and assimilating information Exceptional organizational skills and effective time management Adaptability to adjust priorities and plans as needed Skilled in receiving coaching and implementing direction effectively Ability to focus on details and complete tasks with accuracy Ability to self-initiate development activities and self-monitor progress Capable of performing basic mathematical functions Ability to demonstrate basic computer and typing skills Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly Ability to work effectively with moderate supervision Ability to read, write, and speak English, bilingual is a plus Full range of motion, agility, and strength to lift one's body into/out of large vehicles, trailers, equipment Capable of normally lifting 25 lbs., frequently lifting 50 lbs., and occasionally lifting 90 lbs. with the assistance of mechanical aid or lift assistance Minimum age of 21 years required to drive Company vehicles, requires a valid driver license and ability to maintain a good driving record qualifying to safely drive a Company vehicle for work purposes Must possess a current DOT medical card to drive a Company commercial motor vehicle Comply with regular and predictable attendance Must maintain a professional appearance May be subject to undergo additional background checks and drug and alcohol testing to gain access to restricted job sites
Working Conditions:
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work will be conducted primarily outdoors with required exposure to outside elements, in which some work areas may not be heated or air conditioned. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, gloves, safety footwear, fall restraints, as per requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physically demanding; requires frequent lifting, stooping, crouching, bending, lowering, reaching, twisting, pulling, pushing, carting, and carrying. Requires full range of motion, agility, and strength to lift one's body into/out of large vehicles, trailers, equipment. Capable of normally lifting 25 lbs., frequently lifting 50 lbs., and occasionally lifting 90 lbs. with the assistance of mechanical aid or lift assistance.
HAZARDS:
Awareness of the inherent risk and exposure of the job, working amongst large industrial equipment. There may be exposure to chemicals such as gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, and cleaning solvents.
