Job Summary:
Responsible to assist setting up packaging machines. Work with supervisor, leads and operators during setup, changeovers and assist mechanics with trouble shooting issues to keep the equipment and the facilities in compliance with regulations, certification specifications, and with minimal down time to ensure production goals.
Essential Functions:
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Repair or maintain the operating condition of packaging equipment.
  • Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of packaging equipment.
  • Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
  • Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
  • Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
  • Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Record parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials as necessary.
  • Record repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.
  • Reports to work regularly and on time.
  • Perform duties safely and to report unsafe conditions or actions.
  • Assists in other duties as needed and directed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must be dependable and resourceful to meet immediate deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintains high level of accuracy in all aspects of job function.
  • Maintains excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Team player with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
40-50 hours per week including some weekend and night work required depending on business needs. Must be able to meet all safety requirements and adhere to applicable safety policies.
  • Must occasionally lift 25 lbs. or more.
  • Regularly exposed to noise, moving mechanical parts, and to airborne particles, including some allergens in the manufacturing areas.
