Hourly Salary Range:
$28.17 - $41.53 The successful candidate's placement in the salary range will depend upon previous experience in a similar role. RC# 902468 DESCRIPTION / ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS
This position performs complex diagnosis, maintenance and repairs a variety of city vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and normal operation. Duties include, but are not limited to the following Diagnoses and repairs gasoline and diesel engines, electric and hybrid vehicles, air compressors, auxiliary engines, and complex hydraulic, electrical systems and cooling systems. Diagnoses and repairs air conditioning systems in light and heavy-duty vehicles and heavy equipment. Repairs or rebuilds air and hydraulic brake components, drums, discs, and cylinders. Uses various computer scan tools to diagnose and comprehend engine, transmission, and/or brake data in order to complete repairs. Performs simple to complex welding and fabrication on city equipment as required. Adheres to and performs work according to manufacturer specifications to ensure proper repairs for maximum safety and reliability. Creates job codes, documents and maintains records of work performed. Maintains shop equipment and a clean and safe work environment. May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience of journey-level automotive and heavy equipment mechanic work, or related experience. Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant's full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education:
High school diploma or GED. Professional Licensure and/or
Certifications:
Valid driver's license Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), obtain within one (1) year of hire. Arizona Department of Environmental Quality vehicle emission inspector's license, obtain within one (1) year of hire. Additional Requirements Complete basic set of mechanic hand tools
