Heavy Equipment Service Technician Job Description The Heavy Equipment Service Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on truck-mounted equipment and related machinery. This role requires strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills and involves both in-shop and field service work. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and safety checks. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams. Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble components according to manufacturer specifications. Communicate with customers and team members regarding service needs and repair progress. Conduct field service repairs and provide customer training as needed. Maintain accurate service documentation, parts usage, and work orders. Keep tools and work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards. Essential Skills Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in hydraulic repair, mechanic repair, and electrical repair. Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams. Minimum 5 years of experience in servicing heavy equipment or truck-mounted systems. Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing, bending, and climbing. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work in an open shop environment with large diesel truck bodies for municipal clients, including garbage trucks and large industrial loaders. Begin your day at 5 AM and enjoy the flexibility of 4-10 hour shifts, with occasional Fridays and weekends for overtime.
