Livermore, California Full-Time Position ONSITE Commercial Services, Inc. is a leading telecommunications construction contractor specializing in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), Hydro-Vac Excavation, Open Trenching, Fiber Optic Network Construction, and Underground Utility Installation. Due to continued growth, we are actively seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic with extensive knowledge of Vermeer and Ditch Witch drilling equipment, hydro-vac systems, diesel engines, hydraulics, and electronic diagnostic systems. Position Available Heavy Equipment Mechanic Job Responsibilities Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on: Vermeer Horizontal Directional Drills Ditch Witch Directional Drills Hydro-Vac Excavation Equipment Excavators Backhoes Skid Steers Trailers and Support Equipment Commercial Trucks and Fleet Vehicles Diagnose and repair: Hydraulic systems Electrical systems Electronic control modules (ECMs) Diesel engines Fuel systems Drivetrain components Vacuum systems Tracking and locating equipment Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and service schedules Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues Perform field repairs and emergency service calls when required Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation Coordinate parts ordering and inventory management Inspect equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance with company standards Work closely with operations and field crews to minimize equipment downtime Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment Qualifications Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment repair experience preferred Extensive experience with Vermeer and Ditch Witch directional drilling equipment required Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, pumps, motors, and controls Advanced electrical and electronic diagnostic troubleshooting skills Experience using diagnostic software and service tools Knowledge of diesel engines and emissions systems Ability to read electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and service manuals Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities Valid driver's license required CDL is a plus Ability to lift, carry, and work around heavy equipment safely Welding and fabrication experience is a plus Preferred Certifications Class
