We are growing, growing, growing! Our operations are quickly expanding. SA Recycling proudly supports the military community We are looking for hard-working, reliable and safety minded individuals to join our team as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. In this role you will be responsible for the timely and effective maintenance, trouble shooting, and repair of various brands and types of heavy equipment. This will include electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagnostics, parts inventory and ordering, report writing, and scheduling. This position is based at our Savannah yard, but will also travel locally for maintenance and repair work at other SA Recycling yards. This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Competitive Pay Eligible for Safety and Performance Bonuses Comprehensive benefits including affordable medical options, dental and vision care 401k with a Company Match Growth opportunities and promotions from within Weekly Pay Referral Incentives Company provided uniforms and PPE Responsibilities for an Equipment Mechanic Conducts basic to moderately complex diagnostic, troubleshooting, and service and repair tasks for fuel, electrical, mechanical, brake, and cooling and hydraulic systems on a wide range of equipment. Completes routine maintenance tasks (oil and filter changes, lubrication, brake, etc.) on all Heavy Equipment per manufacturer and SA Recycling recommendations. Maintains accurate service records on all work performed. Order and maintain spare parts inventory. Interact with yard General Managers to schedule routine or emergency maintenance or repairs. Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly working area. Safe and proper use of assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools. Performs all tasks fully within SA Recycling's Safety and Environmental practices and procedures. Qualifications for an
Equipment Mechanic:
Must have 3 years minimum of experience if progressing from within the bargaining unit or must have 5 years minimum experience if hired into this labor grade from the outside, on all types of construction equipment as mechanic. Must have attended Long Beach City College, other equivalent trad school or specialized orginal equipment mfg. Technical schooling in following areas Diesel Electric Transmission Hydraulics Power (Drive Systems) Mechanics must be able to trouble shoot and solve all problems in all of the above listed categories with no supervision or technical assistance. Must also be able to do failure analysis of all component parts.
Time standards:
For job completion or diagnostic troubleshooting may be comparable to guidelines suggested manufacturing service department standards. Such standards shall be reasonable applied. Must be able to lead and train B and C class mechanics and mechanic helpers. Must have Leadership ability to organize and direct the project or task work
Tools:
Must have a complete standard set of tools for any required job as follows. Assist bargaining unit employees with required tools. The parties shall agree on what constitutes a basic set. The company shall apply all specialized tools not listed. The company shall either send mechanics to school or the company shall provide on site instructors so that mechanics will be able to stay current with all updates on repairs in all required categories. Be capable of preparing all required Company OSHA Mechanics maintenance reports. Must be capable of making a complete machine inspection and write a report of condition of each component.
