Network Technician (Freelance/ Self Employed/ Contractor)

Duties Design and deploy scalable network architectures including LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), and VPN (Virtual Private Network) solutions tailored to client needs. Configure and manage network devices such as Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Cisco ASA firewalls, and Meraki equipment to ensure optimal performance and security. Implement advanced security protocols including IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), IPS (Intrusion Prevention Systems), network hardening techniques, and encryption standards like SSL/TLS to safeguard data integrity. Monitor network health using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, and Splunk; perform vulnerability assessments; and conduct regular system hardening to prevent cyber threats. Troubleshoot complex issues related to routing protocols such as

OSPF, BGP, EIGRP

; manage load balancing solutions; and optimize network performance through scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Support virtualization environments including VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, Citrix systems, and cloud platforms like AWS and Azure for high availability and disaster recovery. Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, procedures, and incident reports while adhering to ITIL best practices. Familiarity with network management tools like SolarWinds or SolarWinds equivalents; proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Shell Scripting for automation tasks. Ability to perform system administration tasks on VMware vSphere/ESXi hosts; experience with system hardening practices across diverse platforms. Knowledge of DevOps methodologies including Ansible automation; experience supporting high availability architectures using load balancers and clustering solutions. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on vulnerability assessment and network security best practices; understanding of SSO (Single Sign-On) systems like LDAP or Active Directory.
