Job Description

Job Overview Casper Company is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, repair, rebuild, and perform preventive maintenance on the Company's fleet of heavy construction, demolition, and support equipment. This position is responsible for ensuring that equipment is safe, reliable, properly maintained, and available for use in the field with minimal downtime. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will work on a variety of diesel, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, including construction equipment, material handling equipment, trucks, trailers, power tools, and other fleet-related assets. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, a safety-focused mindset, the ability to work independently, and the judgment to properly assess equipment condition before it is returned to service. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanic with experience in construction equipment, rental equipment, military fleet maintenance, diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, inspections, and preventive maintenance programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy equipment, construction equipment, trucks, trailers, and related fleet assets. Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, power train components, braking systems, steering systems, fuel systems, air systems, and related mechanical components. Perform major and minor repairs, including dismantling, reassembling, rebuilding, and testing equipment as needed. Conduct safety inspections and check-ins on equipment before it is returned to the field or released for use. Identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or safety-related issues and make proper repair recommendations. Operate equipment during testing and diagnostic procedures to verify proper function and safe operation. Perform field repairs when needed to reduce equipment downtime and support active jobsite operations. Assist with shop organization, equipment staging, loading and unloading, pressure washing, cleaning, and preparing equipment for maintenance or repair. Fabricate, modify, or repair parts and equipment when needed to support shop and field operations. Use repair manuals, parts manuals, shop drawings, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, and manufacturer specifications to complete repairs properly. Complete work orders, inspection reports, service records, parts requests, maintenance logs, and other required documentation accurately and timely. Track parts usage, repair status, downtime, and equipment history to support fleet maintenance and cost control. Communicate with supervisors, operators, dispatch, and field leadership regarding equipment status, repair needs, safety concerns, and estimated completion timelines. Assist other mechanics, technicians, operators, and shop personnel as needed. Support a safe work environment by following Casper Company safety policies, Cal/OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, equipment safety standards, and all applicable regulations. Identify unsafe equipment conditions and remove equipment from service when necessary. Maintain tools, work areas, vehicles, and shop equipment in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Participate in training, safety meetings, inspections, and continuous improvement efforts. Provide technical guidance or mentorship to less experienced mechanics or shop personnel when appropriate. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required.
Pay:
$36.00 - $44.00 per hour
