Job Description

Description:
Lead from the front at Stockton Mine. We are seeking a skilled Leading Hand Field Service Mechanic to work with our Workshop Supervisor. In this pivotal role, you will drive safety, operational excellence, and team mentorship in our high-performing heavy equipment workshop.
Your mission is simple:
maximise fleet availability for a fast-paced, high-volume contract mining operation. You will keep a busy fleet moving while guiding a dedicated team of technicians. What We Offer We value hard work, precision, and loyalty. To back our team, we provide:
Excellent Compensation:
$45.00 - $47.00 per hour (based on proven experience).
Tool Allowance:
An extra $4.00 - $6.00 per hour to maintain your gear.

Consistent, stable earnings with standard 11-hour shifts.

Hands-on work with an outstanding range of core mining plant.

A friendly, highly supportive, and deeply committed team environment. A unique part of the country with many lifestyle advantages. What You Bring (Position Requirements) To be successful in this role, you must meet the following strict criteria:
Heavy Machinery Expertise:
Proven diagnostic and repair experience working on Cat, Volvo, Komatsu, and Hitachi machinery.
Leadership Mindset:
Previous Leading Hand or Supervisory experience is highly regarded.
Safety Champion:
A bulletproof focus on workplace health, safety, and proactive risk management.
Licensing:
A minimum Class 1 Full NZTA driver's licence.
Location:
You must currently reside, or be fully prepared to relocate and permanently reside, in Westport.
Workplace Safety:
Must be completely drug-free (testing applies).
