Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment in the field. Your expertise will ensure that equipment operates efficiently and safely across various job sites, supporting our commitment to operational excellence. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and possesses a strong mechanical background with hands-on experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance. . The successful candidate will keep our fleet of Caterpillar equipment in the dirt and running strong. Must be organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and as part of the crew. Responsibilities Perform diagnostic assessments and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, front end loaders, bulldozers, motograders, skidsteers and other industrial machinery using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and technical manuals. Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, hydraulic system checks, brake repairs, transmission servicing, tire service, and electrical diagnostics to prevent downtime. Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues involving hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC systems, and powertrain components with precision. Operate heavy equipment safely during testing phases post-repair to ensure proper functionality before returning machinery to service. Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and inspection reports for each piece of equipment serviced or repaired in the field. Collaborate with company team members to provide excellent service support while adhering to safety standards and operational protocols. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy construction equipment in the field Service CAT excavators, dozers, wheel loaders, graders, skid steers, and compact track loaders, plus Ford service trucks and trailers Run diagnostics using Cat ET and SIS to pinpoint and clear faults Perform scheduled preventive maintenance — fluids, filters, SOS sampling, and inspections Order parts as needed and account for daily parts invoices Prioritize repairs based on job needs Travel to work sites across the Denver Metro and Front Range Work independently or with fellow field mechanics Complete DOT paperwork in a timely manner Conduct daily pre-trip inspection and regular upkeep of your service truck Keep clean work-order records — equipment hours, serial numbers, and the complaint, cause, and correction for every job Contribute knowledge and ideas to increase productivity Continue learning and strengthening skills Skills Self-motivated with a strong work ethic Familiar with OEM standards Works well independently and has a passion to learn Good organization skills and follow through Alert, focused, and detail oriented Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful Diagnostic experience across diesel engine, hydraulic, and electrical systems Excellent verbal and written communication skills Basic understanding of safe work practices Clean driving record and MVR - Must Have a CDL license Clean background check Full set of tools for large equipment repair Physical capability for heavy lifting and working in various outdoor environments; safety-conscious mindset at all times.
Pay:
$20.00 - $45.00 per hour
