Job Description

Description:
Bethel Farms is interviewing candidates for a Farm Equipment Mechanic position that will be responsible for providing vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs onsite. This role is ideal for someone with a high level of technical expertise, strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and analytical / problem solving skills. They will troubleshoot and ensure functionality and reliability of agricultural equipment, vehicles, engines, and mechanical systems.
Responsibilities:
Providing onsite repairs and maintenance for farm equipment and vehicles Repairing or replacing defective parts on farm equipment and vehicles Fabricating new metal parts using drill presses and other machine tools Diagnosing and repairing automated sod harvesters and mowers Recording details of repairs made, parts used, and labor required Driving trucks to haul tools and equipment for onsite repair of large machinery Repairing agricultural irrigation, plumbing, and sprinkler systems (e.g. pivots, laterals) Reassembling machines and equipment following repair, test, and operation; adjusting as necessary Testing and replacing electrical components and wiring using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools Using hand tools, power tools, milling and woodworking machines, lathes, welding equipment, grinders, & saws Cleaning and lubricating and lubricating, repairing bent or torn sheet metal, and dismantling defective machines Maintaining, repairing, and overhauling machinery and vehicles (e.g. tractors, harvesters, forklifts, & mowers) Talking to equipment operators to gather feedback on issues to troubleshoot, locate, and diagnose malfunctions Locating and diagnosing malfunctions by examining & listening to equipment and reading inspection reports Other Duties & Responsibilities as assigned. Requirements:
Valid FL driver's license (CDL Preferred) Candidates are required to have their own tools Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic repairing and maintaining equipment Experience troubleshooting and using diagnostic equipment to find malfunction sources difficult to identify Experience with disassembling engine parts, connecting or attaching components, and using hand tools Good, steady hand-eye coordination and ability to lift and move heavy equipment, tools, and parts Experience with tractors, harvesters, seeders, sprayers and other farm equipment Familiar with engine components, systems, and their interactions with each other Experience with disassembling and reassembling major parts for repairs Candidates with relevant certifications or licenses preferred
Knowledge:
Agricultural and equipment safety Equipment cleaning standards and procedure Workplace safety requirements and procedures Equipment maintenance and storage procedures Operation of diagnostic and agricultural equipment Various record keeping systems and documentation
Skills and Abilities:
Servicing attachments and working tools Keeping daily records of reports and documentation Analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills Cleaning, lubricating and performing other maintenance work Adjusting equipment and repairing or replacing defective parts Effective verbal & listening communication skills and stress & time management Troubleshooting equipment to detect faults and malfunctions and determine extent of repairs required Physical Demands of the
Position:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to stand for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Hand & power tools, drills, drill press, grinders, air-powered tools, torch, jack, lift equipment, video monitoring equipment, diesel laptop, test meters, soldering equipment, milling & woodworking machines, lathes, welding equipment, saws & vehicles. Mental Demands / Physical Demands /
Environmental Factors:
Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside, around moving objects, and with vehicles and machinery with moving parts. Frequent exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work :
This is a full-time, non-exempt position Hours are Monday through Friday Weekends are optional 7AM to 5PM Mon - Thu 7AM - 4
PM Fri Travel:
This position does not require travel.
