- Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on mobile equipment.
- Complete all required and necessary safety training.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and technical support to shop personnel as directed by the Equipment Manager.
- Assist in coordinating workflow and prioritizing repair schedules.
- Inspect and verify all repairs to ensure proper documentation, safety, and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate with Operations to maintain Company, State, and Federal DOT compliance schedules.
- Perform road tests and respond to road calls as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts usage, and work performed.
- Promote and adhere to all safety standards and foster a safety-first culture.
- Assist in training and mentoring less experienced mechanics.
- Maintain a clean and organized shop and work environment.
- Support daily operational needs and communicate effectively with team members and management. Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude and skill in operation of tools and equipment.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to assist in team coordination.
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks in varying weather conditions.
- Valid Florida Driver's License with less than 6 points; Class B CDL preferred.
- Basic diagnostic computer skills.
- Thorough knowledge of preventative maintenance practices.
- Advanced ability to diagnose and repair: air brake systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diesel engines.
- Ability to diagnose and repair drivetrain components (clutch, transmission, rear end).
- Welding and light fabrication skills.
- Must own the appropriate tools to complete necessary repairs to mobile equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to support and guide others in a lead capacity. Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Prior experience in a senior or lead mechanic role preferred, and/or 4+ years of maintenance and heavy equipment repair experience
