Fleet B/Heavy Equip 3.1 3.1 out of 5 stars 445 Challenger Road, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920 Canaveral Port Authority 29 reviews Job Summary This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles and equipment. Work involves performing skilled task in the maintenance and repair of automotive and heavy equipment. A high quality of work is expected, with employee using technical manuals, electronic and web-based reference materials as a basis for proper repair techniques and operation to ensure accuracy of work performed. This position is under the direction of the Fleet Manager.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the maintenance, repair, periodic inspection as well as emergency repairs of all fleet vehicles and equipment. Diagnoses and troubleshoots vehicle and equipment components and systems prior to performing repairs. Responsible for the procurement and inventory of all fleet parts. Complete work orders and forms to ensure all work regarding preventive maintenance and repairs are recorded. Oversee the work orders for Technician A (Preventive Maintenance and Tire Technician). Performs maintenance and servicing of shop equipment. Provide technical direction to Technician A (Preventive Maintenance and Tire Technician). Maintain the cleanliness, preservation and appearance of all fleet vehicles and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. During emergency conditions, all CPA employees are automatically considered essential employees and may be subject to recall. These events may include, but are not limited to, natural, man-made, or public health emergencies. Employees may be expected to perform emergency and/or recovery operations outside of their normal assigned responsibilities and routine working hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED Five (5) years of automotive and heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety precautions Must be willing to work weekends and holidays Must have the ability to work alone with minimal supervision Ability to direct others Licenses /
Certification Required:
Possess a valid Florida Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days. ASE Automotive/Light Truck A1 - A8 Master Technician Certification (Certification required within 1 year of hire date). ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications (Optional).
Physical Requirement:
Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including passenger vehicles, trucks, lawn mowers, etc. and various mechanic's equipment and tools. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of 50 to 100 pounds. Physical demand requirements are rated for Medium to Heavy Work. Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using equipment, machinery and to operate motor vehicles. Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, office equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination. Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reach bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials. Must have heightened awareness to surroundings and observance of established safety precautions is essential in avoidance of injury or accidents.
Environmental Requirements:
Tasks are performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Due to the nature and location of the work environment, tasks include potential for intermittent exposure to disagreeable elements, e.g., heat humidity, inclement weather.
