Permanent Full Time/Part Time:
Full Time Open Until Filled. $27.65 to $29.03 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Performs highly skilled crafts and trades work in the maintenance and complex repair of heavy diesel and/or gasoline vehicles and equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
Eight (8) years of experience in heavy equipment mechanics, including three (3) years of diesel engine mechanicsOR two (2) years of experience with Brevard County as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic IIOR four (4) years of experience with Brevard County as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic I. Successful completion of course work in heavy equipment mechanics or closely related field at a post-secondary school may be substituted on a year for year basis for a maximum of one year (1,080 class hours [1 school year] = 1 year of experience; 120 class hours = 1 month of experience). Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess or obtain, prior to employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess the following ASE certifications: A7 or T7
  • Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning T2
  • Diesel Engines T4
  • BrakesPLUSthree (3) additional medium/heavy equipment ASE certifications.
In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
