Job Description

Overview We are hiring a Shop Equipment Mechanic to join our team supporting active solar construction project sites in the Ocala, FL area! This full-time, shop-based role is ideal for an experienced mechanic who thrives in a hands-on environment and takes pride in keeping heavy equipment running safely and efficiently. If you're a self-starter who can work independently, prioritize your workload, and respond quickly when equipment goes down, this is your opportunity to make a real impact! Duties Perform routine preventative maintenance on a fleet of heavy construction equipment Respond to service calls and perform repairs or maintenance as coordinated with the Equipment Coordinator and Equipment Manager Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, air brake, and diesel engine issues using diagnostic tools Communicate and collaborate with the Asset Management team and outside service vendors to resolve service issues Complete electronic work orders daily and maintain accurate service records using maintenance software Perform welding and burning as needed Work safely in shop and outdoor conditions following all safety guidelines and policies Requirements Minimum 5 years of construction industry experience Associate's degree in a Heavy Equipment program or equivalent hands-on experience Strong hydraulic troubleshooting and repair skills (required) Knowledge of hydraulic and air braking systems, diesel engines, transmissions, and suspension systems Ability to maintain a DOT physical for operating a commercial service truck (CDL preferred, not required) Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) Ability to work independently with little to no supervision Vermeer or John Deere experience a plus Certifications or Training Preferred Safety Brakes (Hydraulic and Air) Engine (Gas and Diesel)
