Job Summary We are seeking a motivated Part Time Yard Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, farm machinery, and automotive vehicles within our yard. Your hands-on mechanical skills will ensure our fleet remains operational, safe, and ready for customer use. This position offers an energetic work environment where your technical expertise will make a tangible impact every day. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy equipment, trailers, and farm machinery using hand tools and power tools Conduct maintenance on industrial equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and Caterpillar machinery following OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) guidelines Troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, suspensions, and air brake systems with the help of schematics and technical manuals Assist with welding, fabrication, tire service, and assembly tasks to keep equipment in top condition Operate heavy machinery including excavators, forklifts, and other heavy equipment safely within yard boundaries Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed Support general yard organization by moving equipment using heavy lifting techniques and ensuring safety protocols are followed Requirements Prior experience working at a dealership or in automotive repair is highly preferred Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance and equipment repair Familiarity with schematics, OEM parts, and diagnostic tools for troubleshooting electrical or hydraulic issues Ability to operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, HVAC systems, brake repair, alignment services, suspension systems, hydraulics, and welding techniques Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment and performing heavy lifting tasks Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly Valid certifications or experience with automotive diagnostics or service technician roles is advantageous Join us as a Part Time Yard Technician to be part of a vibrant team dedicated to maintaining top-tier equipment that keeps operations running smoothly.
