  • Friday, some Saturday work 7am-3:30pm with overtime on weekdays and occasional schedule Job Description This short-term Mechanical Installer II role supports a major automation upgrade at a large distribution facility by installing robotic arms, sub-stations, and internal site fencing.
You will assemble and build robotic equipment and stations, handle materials throughout a multi-floor warehouse, and follow detailed instructions and diagrams to commission equipment safely and accurately. This is a highly physical position that requires consistent use of power and hand tools, frequent lifting, and the ability to work on hard cement floors for a full shift over a 6-8 week project that may be extended based on project needs. Responsibilities Install robotic arms on loading docks, including approximately 20 robotic arms, roughly 40 sub-stations, and internal site fencing according to project plans. Assemble and build robotic arms, stations, and related components using hand and air-powered tools. Commission towers and equipment by following diagrams and step-by-step instructions to ensure correct installation and operation. Run wiring for power supply of products and equipment as directed, ensuring safe and accurate routing. Use pallet jacks to move, strap, and catalogue materials, including transporting materials via elevators between warehouse floors. Perform general labor tasks such as sweeping, cleaning the warehouse, and maintaining an organized and safe work area. Support project teams by assisting with commissioning activities, inventory tasks, and housekeeping as needed. Read and follow blueprints, diagrams, and written instructions to complete installation and assembly work. Lift and carry materials weighing 40-50 lbs consistently throughout the shift. Work in various roles as needed, including inventory, housekeeping, general labor, construction support, loading, packaging, and cleaning. Maintain strong attendance and punctuality, adhering strictly to the project schedule and expectations. Follow basic safety practices and use required personal protective equipment at all times. Communicate effectively with project managers, fellow installers, and material handlers to coordinate tasks and resolve issues. Work independently once trained on processes, while also contributing positively to the team environment. Adhere to professional conduct standards on site, including following directions carefully and not cutting corners in any task. Essential Skills Proven installer experience with regular use of power and hand tools in an industrial or construction environment. Industrial general labor experience in settings such as warehouses, construction sites, or distribution centers. Ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs consistently throughout an 8-hour shift. Comfort working 8 hours a day on hard cement floors in a highly physical role. Strong attendance record with reliability and punctuality; able to maintain perfect or near-perfect attendance. Ability to follow directions closely and work independently once trained on processes. Experience reading and working from blueprints and diagrams. Understanding of basic safety practices in an industrial or construction environment. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn new equipment and processes quickly. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, project managers, and team members. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience working on similar large-scale distribution center or automation projects is highly beneficial. Experience in robotics installation, general labor, construction, loading, packaging, or cleaning tasks in industrial environments. Comfort working in multiple positions, including inventory support, housekeeping, and material handling. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, under-construction warehouse environment. Experience using pallet jacks and basic material handling equipment. Proven track record of working safely and following established procedures. Ability to maintain a professional and presentable appearance in a high-visibility environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work takes place in a large, multi-floor distribution facility that is under construction, which can be messy, loud, and at times crowded. Most work occurs on mezzanine and sub-mezzanine levels, with a mix of air-conditioned and open-air areas that can be hot in the summer. The role is incredibly physical, involving extensive walking on cement floors, frequent lifting, and continuous movement throughout the shift. You will interact regularly with project managers, a team of approximately 22 installers, and about 8 material handlers in a high-visibility setting where professionalism and attention to detail are essential. The standard schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch, typically five days per week for about 40 hours weekly. Dress code includes jeans, safety-toe shoes or boots, and T-shirts, avoiding loose or baggy clothing. High-visibility vests, safety glasses, hard hats, gloves, and ear plugs are provided and must be used as required for safety. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Tallahassee, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00
