Full Job Description Job Description Please Note:

Reporting directly to the Manager, Work Equipment & Training, the Work Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for the disassembly, repair, modification, overhaul, remanufacture and troubleshooting of the railroad's roadway maintenance equipment machinery and their various operating and control systems. Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. This is a Union position. Starting pay rates may vary based on entry rates in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Click here to learn more about our benefits! Metra is a railroad employer subject to the provisions of the Railroad Retirement Tax Act, not the Social Security Administration. Job Requirements Three years' experience and/or combined with vocational Training on Diesel equipment and Mechanical repair of construction equipment. Experience with troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems including the ability to read schematics. Ability to keep accurate records Must have good communication skills and a strong aptitude. CDL - B License or the ability to obtain within 60 days. Ability to lift 50 to 80 pounds on a frequent basis. Ability to understand and carry out instructions. Ability to work in shop and field environments.
Preferred:
Mechanical Experience with Railroad Equipment. Experience operating electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic large hand tools such as drills and impact wrenches. Experience operating backhoes, trenchers, and other heavy equipment.
