Job Description

Apprentice Mechanic Skokie, IL | Industrial & Commercial Access Solutions About the Role Sky Climber Access Solutions is seeking a skilled and motivated Apprentice Mechanic to support our Skokie, IL operations. This role is responsible for the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of motorized construction and access equipment both in the shop and at customer job sites. This position is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals who enjoy hands-on work in industrial and construction environments. Trade school graduates are encouraged to apply. Candidates should be comfortable working at heights, in field environments, and in fast-paced service operations while maintaining strong safety and customer service standards. What You'll Do Overhaul, repair, and maintain hoist motors and related access equipment Disassemble motors, replace defective components, and reassemble equipment to manufacturer standards Troubleshoot and repair electrical and pneumatic customer-owned equipment Perform field service calls and complete repairs at customer job sites as required Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance on facility and rental equipment Follow inspection checklists to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently Maintain accurate parts inventory and assist with inventory control processes Enter work orders and service documentation into company computer systems Perform equipment inspections in accordance with manufacturer recommendations Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment Provide professional customer service to customers, business partners, and team members Perform additional responsibilities as assigned Qualifications & Experience Prior mechanical or equipment repair experience preferred Trade school graduates encouraged to apply Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices Ability to work independently and as part of a team Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English Physical & Work Environment Requirements Must not be afraid of heights Ability to work at elevated heights and in active construction environments Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, and wind Ability to lift and move materials or equipment exceeding 75 lbs.
