Job Summary We are looking for a dependable, experienced Rental Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of rental equipment to ensure it is safe, reliable, and ready for customer use. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, experience working on construction or rental equipment, and a commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced shop environment where equipment readiness and repair turnaround are critical. Responsibilities Inspect returned rental equipment for damage, wear, and mechanical issues Diagnose and repair diesel, gas, hydraulic, and electrical system problems Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on fleet equipment Test equipment after repairs to verify proper and safe operation Prepare equipment for rent by servicing, cleaning, fueling, and checking overall readiness Complete work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance records accurately Identify parts needed for repairs and communicate parts requests clearly Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop and yard area Follow company safety procedures and all applicable regulations Assist with field service repairs when needed Requirements Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment or industrial machinery; dealership experience is highly preferred Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, HVAC systems, and electrical components Ability to read schematics and OEM manuals for troubleshooting complex systems Experience with fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly of mechanical parts Familiarity with excavator operation, crane maintenance, forklift repair, and farm machinery is a plus Proficiency with vehicle maintenance tools including power tools and hand tools Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in diagnostics and repairs Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in various environmental conditions Equipment Worked On Skid steers Excavators Aerial lifts Generators Air compressors Concrete equipment Trailers Small tools and other rental equipment Skills Strong mechanical aptitude Troubleshooting and diagnostic ability Attention to detail Dependable and self-motivated Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good communication and organizational skills Join us as a Rental Equipment Mechanic and become an integral part of a team dedicated to delivering reliable equipment solutions.
