Purpose :
Independently performs diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned lawn and garden/outdoor power equipment. May require some direction or guidance from the Location Service Management team.
Responsibilities :
Performs diagnostics and repairs on John Deere Lawn & Garden Equipment and other brands sold at the dealership. May perform diagnostics and repairs on competitive equipment. Operates and maintains vehicles, tools, and equipment required to perform job responsibilities. Participates in John Deere University training and dealer-led training to further the development of skills and knowledge. Conducts or supports customer clinics. Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products. Mentors Service Technician Apprentices and Students as requested. Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment. Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion. Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments. Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders. Responsible for tracking all materials used in performing assigned duties. Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments in a timely manner. Other appropriate responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge :
High School Diploma or equivalent experience required, Associates degree preferred. 1+ years of experience performing service repairs; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred. Ability to perform repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures with limited re-work or customer dissatisfaction. Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agriculture and turf equipment. Ability to operate vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes. Experience with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer-based diagnostic repair tools preferred. Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing. Valid driver's license required; Forklift license preferred.
Additional Requirements :
Ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly. Adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities required. Driving record that meets Employer's insurance company requirements. Ability to pass DOT physical examination and obtain Medical Examiner's Certificate may be required.
