Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fiber Optic Installation Technician to join our team as a 1099 contractor. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for installing, splicing, and maintaining fiber optic cables and network infrastructure across various sites. Your expertise will ensure reliable high-speed connectivity for residential, commercial, and telecommunication clients. This position offers the flexibility of contract work while providing opportunities to develop your skills in fiber optics, network installation, and telecommunication systems. Duties Install, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables using hand tools and specialized equipment such as ohmmeters and fusion splicers Perform fiber splicing with precision to ensure optimal signal quality and minimal loss Conduct network installation activities including setting up Cisco routers, Ethernet connections, and telephony systems Run cabling through various building structures while adhering to safety standards and electrical codes Use mechanical knowledge to assemble enclosures, patch panels, and other network components Diagnose electrical issues related to low voltage systems and repair or replace faulty components Conduct field service visits for ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and system upgrades in telecommunication environments Qualifications Proven experience in fiber splicing, network installation, or telecommunications field service roles Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, Cisco routers, and telephony systems Skilled in using hand tools such as cable strippers, crimpers, and ohmmeters for electrical testing Familiarity with low voltage wiring practices and mechanical assembly of network hardware Schedule Monday- Friday Weekend availability is a plus Higher work volume typically Thursday-Monday Areas We Service Fort Wayne Marion Peru Gas City Columbia City Warsaw Surrounding Northern Indiana markets
