Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Mechanic to assemble, maintain and repair machinery and vehicles. You will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines and mechanical systems. An excellent mechanic must have manual dexterity and great attention to detail. They must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions. Aluminum Recovery Technologies is a family run company located about 30 minutes north of Fort Wayne in the small town of Kendallville. Responsibilities:
Perform routine, emergency, and preventative maintenance of forklifts, skid loaders, front end loaders, and man lifts. Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues. Interpret manufacturer technical manuals to perform the necessary maintenance and repairs needed. Troubleshoot reported problems including brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems, potential problems or safety issues, and resolve them in a timely manner. Able to diagnose and repair mast and attachment components. Ability to work on LP, gas and diesel systems. Good working knowledge of brake systems and tire/wheel changes. Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery and make all necessary adjustments for effective and safe operations. Replace broken or defective parts from stock parts and/or order replacement parts for major repairs. Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users. Undertake other duties as assigned (ex., repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles, pressure washing, etc.) Competent to complete legible service documents and logs for preventative maintenance tasks. Ensure work area, and methods used in carrying out job duties meet all safety requirements. Maintain an organized and neat work area. Learn new technical information and techniques to stay current with ever changing technology. Able to replace engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, etc. Able to tolerate extreme cold and heat. Must be able to work Saturdays and answer on calls when required. Must have own tools.
Skills:
Proven experience as Mechanic, Two or more years of experience. Preferred knowledge of forklifts rating up to 15,000 lbs. Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components. Solid aptitude in using various hand tools, and mechanical ability. Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instructions and manuals. Very good communication skills A problem-solving ability Certification from vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus. Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
