Job Description
Job Overview Technical Truck & Trailer is seeking a Part-Time 2nd Shift Field Technician to support after-hours fleet maintenance for on-site customers. This field-based role performs preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and minor repairs on a diverse fleet supporting recycling operations, including Class 8 tractors, trailers, side-load recycling trucks, and heavy equipment. Work is performed after customer operating hours to avoid fleet downtime during the business day. Equipment This Role Will Work On Class 8 tractors and trailers Side-load recycling trucks and refuse equipment Skid steers, backhoes, and wheel loaders Excavators and other heavy equipment Schedule 2nd Shift / After Hours

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and fleet inspections Diagnose problems and make repairs; replace minor parts as needed Troubleshoot using electronic diagnostic and testing equipment Repair and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, and air brake systems Complete major component replacements per OEM procedures Maintain accurate service documentation and parts usage records Ensure all repairs meet OEM and safety standards Communicate repair timelines, equipment status, and findings to supervisors and customer operations teams Travel between multiple customer locations to support fleet needs Own and supply your own basic hand toolsWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Experience maintaining Class 8 trucks, refuse/recycling equipment, or heavy equipment (preferred) Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and inspection forms Basic computer skills and experience using electronic work order systems Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a field environment Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication skills- must effectively convey equipment status to supervisors and operations Ability to work safely in adverse weather, uneven terrain, and varying job site conditions
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
Valid driver's license- Required Michigan Heavy-Duty Truck Mechanic Certification
- Required CDL and OEM certifications

Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push/pull, grasp tools, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and noisy environments Ability to work on uneven terrain and varying job site conditionsABOUT US
