DESCRIPTION
A Heavy Equipment/ Truck Driver Manager plays an administrative as well as a technical role in the success of Tribal Operations. An individual in this role is responsible for the service, maintenance, and upkeep of all tribally owned Heavy Equipment and trucks. People meeting the minimum and desired qualifications in this profile are also essential to handle and manage a team of subordinates.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performing scheduled checks on all the transport trailer vehicles.
  • Implement a system in which to monitor and track all work performed as well as revenue generated for the Tribe.
  • Ensuring regular servicing and maintenance of all trucks and heavy equipment of the establishment.
  • Maintaining a service and maintenance record of all vehicles and equipment.
  • Assigning work areas and tasks to subordinates and ensuring the timely completion of the same.
  • Coordinating with the purchasing department for spare parts and other repair of equipment as proscribed by the procurement and any other policies affecting such purchases.
  • Complying with all safety norms and the tribes' regulations for all processes.
  • Ensuring the appropriate usage and handling of testing tools and repair equipment.
  • Test driving vehicles and heavy equipment to ensure that they are functioning appropriately.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • One (1) year of management experience.
  • High School degree, diploma, or a GED equivalent qualification from an institution.
  • Must be certified to operate Heavy Equipment.
  • Possession of a valid State Driver's License (Class A or B CDL) is required.
  • Experience in accurately bidding jobs involving the operation of heavy equipment.
IMPORTANT
As part of the application process, you will be required to submit to an employment drug test and complete driver's background investigation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge and experience of basic maintenance of heavy equipment is highly preferred.
  • Should have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to effectively manage and track all work performed as well as revenue generated for the Tribe.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, air brakes, and other heavy equipment related systems.
  • Experience with pipefitting, ditch digging, road and other large construction projects.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
  • Should have the ability to effectively lead and manage a team of subordinates.
  • Should understand and efficiently complete all delegated tasks.
  • Able to read and understand policies and procedures.
  • Should have knowledge of safe work methods and practices.
  • Should know DOT guidelines for truck regulations and inspections.
  • Be able to work and interact well with others.
  • Be certified in CPR and first aid.
