Job Description

About Us Preferred Energy is a growing leader in the Oil and Gas industry that is committed to keeping our fleet in top condition to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency. We are seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic with fleet management expertise to oversee both the maintenance and operational readiness of our vehicles and equipment. Key Responsibilities Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repair on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and equipment (diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical components, braking systems, etc.) Develop and oversee preventative maintenance schedules Manage fleet operations including inspections, repairs, compliance with DOT and safety regulations Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts inventory, and service history Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies as necessary Supervise and provide guidance to junior mechanics or service staff Ensure fleet cost-efficiency by monitoring usage, fuel, and repair budgets Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or trade school degree in automotive/diesel mechanics preferred 5+ years of hands-on experience as a heavy-duty mechanic Experience in fleet management or supervisory role strongly preferred Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, and other safety/compliance requirements Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
