Description:
Rockwell Repair a locally owned and operated heavy diesel repair business seeking a full-time experienced field technician. As a Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of equipment. You will perform maintenance and repairs on a wide range of equipment, including forklifts, skid loaders, semi-trucks, and heavy construction machinery. This role offers a mix of independent shop work and on-site field service, with a service truck provided. The ideal candidate is a skilled technician with hands-on experience who can confidently diagnose, repair, and maintain virtually any type of equipment, regardless of size, complexity, or application.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience with heavy equipment repair (extensive, real-world experience is essential for this role) In-depth knowledge of heavy construction machinery and systems Must be able to read and interpret schematics Proven experience with hydraulic and electrical systems across a variety of equipment Self-motivated with strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills Comfortable working in remote and/or outdoor environments Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and confidently handle complex repairs Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (CDL a plus, but not required) Available to travel up to 2+ hours each way, typically returning home daily, with occasional overnight stays when necessary. Travel details will be arranged in coordination with the employee. Provide your own comprehensive set of hand and power tools required for heavy equipment repair (e.g., impact wrenches, socket sets, diagnostic multimeter, hydraulic tools, etc.). Specialty tools and certain common truck stock items will be provided.
Responsibilities :
Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on engine, hydraulic, and electrical systems Conduct preventative maintenance and detailed inspections Operate and maintain a fully-equipped service truck Communicate with customers, keep detailed service records and complete write-ups upon completion of assigned jobs Diagnose issues, identify necessary parts, and manage parts lookup and ordering Safely and efficiently complete repairs on a wide range of equipment, from mid-size units to large heavy machinery
