- Forklift Mechanic - $30/hour - WEEKEND SHIFT
- This role focuses on maintaining and repairing a wide range of facility-related equipment, including forklifts, conveyors, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and fire safety equipment.
You will perform both preventive and reactive maintenance, troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently in a busy warehouse environment. The position also involves maintaining accurate maintenance records, managing spare parts inventory, and supporting material handling operations during peak periods. Responsibilities Perform maintenance and repair on forklifts, conveyors, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and fire safety equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. Conduct preventive maintenance (PMs) on forklifts, conveyors, and other facility equipment, with approximately 60% of the workload focused on PM activities and 40% on reactive maintenance. Monitor equipment performance, trend issues, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems using diagnostic tools and multimeters. Observe and test adjustments, corrective repairs, and modifications to verify safe and proper equipment operation. Log time, materials, and detailed maintenance activities into a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or similar maintenance software. Maintain, update, and close work orders and preventive maintenance tasks within the maintenance management system. Interpret and understand plans, specifications, schematics, and operating and maintenance manuals to perform accurate and safe repairs. Repair dock doors and perform rack installations as needed to support warehouse operations. Assist with battery preventive maintenance, including battery charger repairs, battery changes for material handling equipment, repair of battery and charger plugs and tips, watering and washing batteries, and performing acid spill cleanup. Support forklift and conveyor preventive maintenance to maintain high productivity and top equipment performance, especially during peak operational periods. Maintain spare parts inventory, order replacement parts, and prepare routine updates to maintenance records and reports. Work with Crown brand forklifts and ensure they are maintained according to manufacturer standards and safety requirements. Collaborate with the maintenance team and operations staff to minimize downtime and prioritize critical repairs. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in an industrial warehouse environment. Skills Minimum 1+ year of maintenance experience on conveyors. Minimum 1+ year of maintenance experience on forklifts. Minimum 1+ year of hydraulic systems experience. Minimum 1+ year of maintenance experience in an industrial facility. Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical issues using computerized diagnostic tools and multimeters. Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, including inspection, repair, and replacement of cylinders, valves, pumps, and hoses. Solid knowledge of electrical systems, including 24V, 36V, and 48V systems, motor controllers, and wiring. Expertise in engine repair and maintenance for LP (liquid propane), gas, and diesel engines. Knowledge of electric forklift battery care, including charging, watering, and general power maintenance. Experience with preventive maintenance practices in an industrial or warehouse environment. Ability to use hand tools and industrial tools safely and effectively. Experience working with forklifts, particularly in a maintenance or equipment shop or manufacturing facility environment. Ability to work with Crown brand forklifts or similar equipment. Capability to interpret technical documentation such as plans, schematics, and maintenance manuals. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document work in a computerized maintenance management system. Why Work Here?
