Heavy Equipment Operator and/or Mechanic

Heavy Equipment Operators or Mechanics Interviews will happen at our offices at Robbinsville or Township of Monroe, NJ. But the location you will be working from on the daily will very based on your home location. You will be responsible getting from home to the work base to the worksite. Long-term opportunities are available for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operators and/or Mechanics with a well‑established electrical contractor. These Roles requires strong technical/ mechanical skill, reliability, and a commitment to safety. Candidates should have substantial experience with heavy machinery and construction-related excavation and utility work and/or be someone who can repair work vehicles and heavy machinery on the job site or the shop. Key Responsibilities Daily & General Responsibilities Arrive on time and maintain dependable attendance. Provide reliable transportation to and from job sites. Participate in daily safety and work-plan meetings. Perform daily equipment inspections and safety checklists. Maintain the condition and cleanliness of assigned machinery. Report any equipment issues to the Equipment Manager promptly. Assist with basic field maintenance and equipment servicing or create a solid communication stream for the Equipment manager to deploy a mechanic. Work collaboratively as part of a crew and support team operations.

Heavy Equipment Operation Duties:

Proficiently operate hydraulic excavators for trenching and pipe installation. Excavate trenches safely and in full compliance with OSHA standards. Dig trenches on grade for conduit, precast pole bases, manholes, handholes, and related utilities. Perform rigging and safe lifting operations for setting pipe and precast structures. Execute proper backfilling and compaction techniques. Conduct daily machine inspections and communicate any defects. Clean cabs, clean tracks, and grease machinery at the end of each shift.

Mechanic Duties:

Ability to work alone on equipment on the fly or scheduled maintenance, on diesel trucks or any of our heavy duty equipment. Required Experience Minimum 10 years of heavy equipment operation (required). Proficiency with excavators (mini to large), Lulls, forklifts, boom equipment, backhoes, skid steers, trenchers, trench rollers, tampers.

Experience with:

Foundation excavation and backfill Underground utility installation (precast concrete structures, conduit, trench prep) Finish grading Requirements Valid Driver's License - REQUIRED Reliable transportation. Ability to communicate clearly with crew and supervisors. Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, lift 75+ lbs, and work in outdoor conditions (heat, cold, dirt, noise, dust). Ability to perform tasks requiring balance, pushing, pulling, stooping, carrying, and vision accuracy. English language proficiency for crew communication.
