Mechanic Helper Reports to:Assets Manager Pay Classification:

Hourly Summary Assist with van, truck and equipment maintenance jobs, such as oil changes, tires, brake pad replacements, preventative maintenance and tune-ups, as well as provide support during more complicated repairs. You must be familiar with the general workings of a car engine and small engines. Our ideal candidate has some experience with fixing and maintaining vehicles as well as some of their own tools for basic duties. Duties and Responsibilities- Helps mechanic perform maintenance and repairs such as tune-ups and oil change, checks tires and brakes, replaces spark plugs and engages in other similar tasks.
- Assists mechanic with electrical systems such as replacing batteries, starters, GPS systems and lights.
- Test drives vehicles to ensure repairs are completed property.
- Responds to minor needs with vehicle services and support, change tires, jump start.
- Cleans the shop and returns tools to proper location.
- Maintains inventory of replacement parts and equipment.
- Inspects tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order.
- Updates maintenance and repair logs for vehicles.
- Must understand and adhere to all industry safety standards and practices. Safely operates vehicles and equipment.
- Proactively maintains a safe working environment with regard to all job duties.

- Valid Driver's License
- Must be insurable
- Knowledge of vehicle repair.
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to use power and hand tools.
- Ability to read service and repair manuals.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
- Ability to push/pull Ability to lift /carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Skilled in the ability to read and interpret safety precautions, ability to correctly interpret the Material Safety Data Sheets for the materials that are used on a daily basis.
- Solid ability to use prudent judgment and problem-solving skills to make reasonable and appropriate decisions and recommendations.
- Safe working habits, equipment repair shop safety, tool use and lifting equipment safety and vehicle operation safety.
- Must adhere to all hazardous material/hazardous waste handling and disposal regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills to communicate with customer and resolve customer issues, complaints, or concerns
