$21.00 - $25.00 Employees being promoted to a higher classified position receive the minimum for the position or a pay rate adjustment of 8% whichever is greater. All regular positions also entitle the employee to several benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement which is largely paid by New Mexico Tech for the employee and dependents.

JOB SUMMARY:
The fundamental purpose of this position is to perform vehicle/equipment repair, maintenance, and servicing in support of EMRTC's automotive garage team. The Mechanic II analyzes malfunctions and repairs/maintains/overhauls light, medium, and heavy electric/gasoline/diesel powered vehicles and equipment. The Mechanic II performs field maintenance and fueling/lubrication of heavy equipment accurately and routinely. The Mechanic II completes service forms and turns over parts invoices to the Lead Mechanic to assist in ensuring records are properly maintained.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs all tasks necessary to repair, maintain, and overhaul vehicles, equipment, and components using a wide variety of mechanical and analytical power and hand tools. Inspects and troubleshoots equipment and systems to determine type of repairs required. Uses service manuals to repair equipment/components and parts books, parts stores and Internet to obtain necessary parts. Operates and utilizes fueling/lubrication servicing truck to perform field servicing of heavy equipment. Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains armored personnel carriers, tanks, and other military equipment. Performs start, move, and shutdown of all equipment; operates equipment according to certification and abilities. Attends weekly EMRTC safety trainings, acknowledges and abides by sick/annual leave policies, communicates with all essential personnel, presents a positive/professional attitude, acknowledges and abides by New Mexico Tech/EMRTC safety policies/SOP's/security policies, etc.
