Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This is a union position with the Local 18 Operators Union (would require joining union if not already a member). The successful candidate will be responsible for performing year-round routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, ensuring optimal performance and extending the life of the machines. This is a critical role within our organization, requiring a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.Responsibilities:
Responsible for repairs and maintenance of small and large construction equipment including light, medium and heavy-duty trucks, and trailers. Inspect and correct deficiencies and maintain all types of heavy equipment, including loaders, haul trucks, graders, dozers, pavers, rollers, dump trucks and pickup trucks, trailers, and road tractors. Check, fill, and/or change fluids for all equipment parts and check/change filters. Inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment support systems, such as electrical, hydraulic, suspension, and air and brake systems. Service equipment per Company maintenance schedules and inspection reports. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and make necessary repairs, adjustments, and replacements. Diagnosis and repair transmissions, engines, differentials, electrical and hydraulic components associated with heavy construction equipment in a field environment. Utilize a laptop computer for information and diagnostic purposes for the safe assembly and disassembly of components. Write and complete service reports. Perform other duties as assigned.Skills & Qualifications:
Two-year technical degree in diesel technology, heavy equipment mechanics, or similar preferred. 5+ years' experience preferred but not necessary. CDL driver's license (can work to acquire tank endorsement if needed) Experience repairing heavy equipment including engine repair and diagnostics. Ability to use troubleshooting and diagnostic Equipment Basic computer/iPad skills. Experience using repair manuals/software, wiring (electrical) diagrams, and schematics necessary to troubleshoot or repair equipment or component failure. Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends Maintain all required certifications by ODOT, OSHA and Company safety programs. Ability to work well independently. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions. learn new skills via hands-on training and acquire additional certifications as needed. Troubleshooting and diagnostic experience Basic welding and fabrication skills desired Desire to take on new challengesJob Type:
