GED Full Job Description The Position:
Washington Township, Montgomery County, Ohio, is seekinga skilled mechanic to support Township operations.
Responsibilities:
Mechanics perform a wide variety of skilled and unskilled work in the repair and maintenance of a variety of automobiles, trucks, heavy equipment and other specialized equipment.
Additional responsibilities include:
Performs general repair and maintenance work on all motorized vehicles and equipment used in Township operations. Inspects vehicles and equipment and assists in diagnostic analysis. Performs welding and fabricating jobs, such as repairing frames, making trailer hitches, and making new fixtures from drawings. Uses tools as those needed for the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment. Lifts, holds and maneuvers heavy objects, such as vehicle parts and supplies. Visually inspects equipment to detect mechanical problems; ability to distinguish between sounds/noises that can be identified. Detects engine and transmission sounds to diagnose mechanical problems. • Accurately maintains maintenance records. • Works in all weather conditions and in all terrain conditions.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualification requires a Class B or higher CDL, a high school diploma or equivalent, and successful completion of a mechanical program and/or experience as a journeyman automotive and heavy equipment mechanic. Must have ability to respond during off-duty hours. Preferred qualification requires aforementioned qualifications plus Emergency Vehicle Technician Master Level III and ASE Certifications. Must have a valid Ohio driver's license and remain insurable under the Township's vehicle insurance plan. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, reach above shoulders, climb, crawl, kneel, bend, grip, lift and carry loads, and work in inclement weather. Must be able to communicate effectively, work independently and safely, and maintain initiative to complete tasks.

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary range is $59,425 to $78,228 (effective 4/1/26) and is a non-exempt, union position. Entry rate is contingent upon candidate's experience, qualifications, and related skills, knowledge, and ability. Appointment Procedure:
The selection process will include a review of all submitted materials and scheduled interviews. Candidates will be required to complete a criminal and personal background check, credit review, driver's license review, and DOT physical and drug test. Appointment procedure will be based on the number of qualified candidates.
Pay:
$28.57 - $37.61 per hour
