We are seeking a motivated Shop Service Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide variety of construction equipment while working in a professional, team-oriented environment. Full-Time Reports to: Shop Service Manager What You'll Do Equipment Maintenance & Repairs Perform preventative maintenance services according to OEM recommendations and service intervals. Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related issues on construction equipment. Conduct detailed inspections and identify equipment deficiencies, wear items, and safety concerns. Recommend necessary repairs and maintenance solutions to Service Writers and Management. Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Customer Service & Communication Strong verbal and written communication skills Professional, customer-focused attitude with strong problem-solving abilities. Deliver exceptional service while maintaining a professional and positive attitude. Build strong relationships with customers through honesty, accountability, and technical expertise. Clearly communicate equipment findings, repair recommendations, and maintenance requirements. Documentation & Compliance Accurately complete service reports, inspection forms, and repair documentation. Maintain organized records of work performed and parts utilized. Follow all company, OSHA, and environmental regulations, including proper disposal of hazardous materials. Shop Operations Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Properly utilize shop tools, equipment, lifting devices, and diagnostic systems. Support team members and assist with additional duties as assigned by Service Management. Qualifications & Technical Skills Strong mechanical aptitude with advanced knowledge of heavy equipment systems. Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, drivetrain, engine, and mechanical components. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment; read and interpret technical manuals, service procedures, wiring & hydraulic diagrams, and maintenance schedules. Prior experience using multimeters, test software and diagnostic tools. Proficient using computers, service software, and electronic diagnostic software. Commitment to staying current with industry technology and equipment advancements, but with the ability to quickly adapt to evolving technologies and industry advancements. Physical Requirements Ability to safely operate power tools, forklifts, hoists, hydraulic jacks, and overhead cranes. Capable of lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently. Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing for extended periods. Comfortable working in challenging shop environments while maintaining safety and productivity. Experience & Education Required Minimum of three (3) years of experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy construction equipment.
Strong working knowledge of:
Hydraulic systems Electrical systems Diesel engines Powertrain components Preventative maintenance programs Preferred Experience servicing excavators, wheel loaders, skid steers, dozers, telehandlers, and other construction equipment.
