Job Description

Job Overview TanMar Companies is seeking a dependable and motivated Mechanic Helper to assist shop and field mechanics with the maintenance, repair, and servicing of company equipment and vehicles. Work may be performed in all types of weather and, periodically, at remote locations. Employees are expected to adhere to all safety regulations and policies established by TanMar and our customers. This position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience and develop their mechanical skills while working alongside experienced technicians. Duties & Responsibilities Assist mechanics with preventative maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, pumps, generators, and company equipment. Help maintain fleet service records and vehicle inspection reports. Support mechanics in rebuilding, repairing, and replacing major components and systems including engines, transmissions, suspensions, and hydraulic systems. Perform oil changes, filter changes, lubrication, and general preventative maintenance services. Maintain shop organization and cleanliness. Perform general labor duties as needed throughout the day. Assist with parts inventory and pickup of materials as required. Participate in on-call rotations and overtime as needed. Follow all company and customer safety requirements. Requirements High school diploma or GED preferred. 1 year of mechanical or shop experience preferred. Basic mechanical knowledge and aptitude. Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, or A/C systems is a plus. Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying weather conditions. Valid driver's license and clean driving record preferred. Ability to pass a drug screening test. Preferred Qualifications Trade school or vocational training in diesel technology, automotive repair, or related field. Experience with diesel engine repair. Knowledge of John Deere engines and Cornell pumps is a plus. EPA Type II Certification is a plus. Experience with hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and A/C repairs is a plus. Forklift experience is a plus. A certification from an accredited trade school or university may be considered in lieu of experience.
