About the Position The Service Technician Lead is responsible for acting as a coach/leader of the Service Technician team. The position is expected to coach and train teammates to fulfill their individual daily tasks in addition to the Lead's own tasks. The role will be responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance with all Material Handling Equipment, automated systems, and conveyors involving all customers and vendors of Kenco Fleet Services. Functions
  • Provide daily work assignments and directions to technicians based on priorities, skill levels, customer commitments, and operational needs.
  • Repair and maintain all Forklift and other Material Handling Equipment using standards set by site.
  • Champion safety by prioritizing safe work practices and modeling exemplary behavior through proper PPE use, lockout/tagout adherence, and full compliance with safety protocols.
  • Measure and increase utilization of technicians.
  • Responsible for the resolution of all service, parts, and warranty issues.
  • Actively train and mentor technicians through hands-on instruction, demonstration of proper techniques, and real-time coaching.
  • Provide hands-on instruction for advanced diagnostic techniques using multimeters, oscilloscopes, pressure gauges, diagnostic software, and specialized testing equipment.
  • Inspects forklifts, automated systems, conveyors, and other operating equipment to ensure compliance with OSHA and operational standards.
  • Use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot engines, engine fuel systems, transmissions, or other components on material handling equipment, automated systems, and conveyors.
  • Manage equipment condition and support repair readiness by reporting damage, coordinating required parts, and maintaining accurate service and inventory records.
  • Communicate with Parts team on parts and supplies needed to maintain equipment.
  • Maintain parts inventory, repair and preventative maintenance records for all equipment by completing accurate paperwork.
  • Conducts tests of safety equipment to ensure OSHA and operational standards.
  • Undertake regional or national travel as needed for training delivery, site support, equipment installations, special projects, or coverage of understaffed locations.
  • Conduct new hire orientations covering company culture, policies, procedures, safety requirements, and expectations for performance and conduct.
  • Model exemplary professionalism and clear communication in all interactions, translating technical information into understandable language that helps customers comprehend equipment status and repair options while setting the standard for team conduct.
  • Responsible for general cleanliness of service area always.
  • Take ownership of site KPI performance by tracking metrics, addressing obstacles to target achievement, and leading the technician team to meet or exceed efficiency, quality, and safety goals.
  • Take personal ownership of professional growth by identifying skill gaps, knowledge areas needing improvement, and capabilities that would enhance job performance. Qualifications
  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or tech school graduate required.
  • 6-8 years of Forklift mechanic experience required
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on multiple types of equipment.
  • Able to read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics.
  • Ability to lead others and interact with customers.
  • Must be able to frequently lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Supply own mechanic technician hand tools.
  • Must be able to safely operate lift trucks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
